Was being a "good guy" and doing my neighbors drive a few years back with my JD 47", and he had left a garden hose on the drive. Lots of fun cutting that think out.

I'm green with envy !!!!!!!!!! A sweet looking machine. I would love to trade my 445 for one, but wife says now that I am semi-retired, I can't afford both the new tractor payment and the alimony payment that would follow.

If the 425 only has 198 hours on it, I would say $5600. is not a bad price. I have a 445 with 1900 hours on it and it still runs great.

I have a Fimco 50 gal tow behind sprayer that I use with a JD 445. I installed wiring from the tractor battery that runs to the back of the tractor. Two wires, one "hot" and one ground with an inline fuse. I also installed a switch box near the seat so turn the pump on and off. Works very nice, and you don't have to fool around with a separate 12v battery. Also use the same setup with my Thompson spreader. Just be sure you put an inline fuse in the system.

Check outthe Curtis Cab website. They have a very nice line of cabs for the JD 4010 series.

Is your Troy-Bilt a 33" wide cut model ?? If so, how do you like it ?? I purchased one a couple of years ago, and am not 100% satisfied with it. Seems like a few too many problems for a new mower that I use only on my lawn and not for any commerical work.

I installed front and rear work lights on the cab for my 445 a few years back. Used some simple toggle switches so I can turn them on and off individually. Don't use the cab in the warm weather, but they sure are nice to have when I am blowing snow at 5 A.M.

Can't speak for the Yanmar diesel, but I have a JD 445 with f/i Kawasaki with 1750 hours on it and it still runs great.

My (late) neighbor had a JD 455 and a Land Pride 48" tilter. I used it a couple of times and the JD 455 handled it just fine. It did a great job preparing gardens, etc;

I checked with my Allstate agent a couple of years ago, and my JD 445 and other lawn equipment is covered under my homeowners insurance. $272.00 from JD for 5 years coverage sounds like a pretty good deal however.

The JD 425 is 20 HP, not 22 HP like the 445 and 455.
Unless you have alot of trees, etc; to mow around, I would go with the 2 wheel steer model.

I have a JD 445 (which is much smaller that a 4310. I have two front mounted and one rear mounted work light plus a strobe light mounted on the cab that I use in the winter. I installed these myself and have them connected to individual switches. I can use all of them at the same time, plus the regular lights on the tractor without any problem. Don't use the rear mounted work light much, but have had the other lights on for more than an hour at a time without blowing any fuses. I have not idea how much wattage they draw, etc; but thought I would pass this along for whatever it is worth.

I'm sure the model 47 would work. They are 47" wide. Not sure what you should expect to pay. Whatever you buy, get a two stage unit.
